SUNDAY. The day of arrival.
By 1100 cadets began arriving from Vilseck, Ansbach and Hohenfels High Schools. Busses from Stuttgart and Baumholder checked in by 1400 and the bus from Vicenza was here by 1600.
Cadet Company Commanders and First Sergeants took charge immediately, getting campers off the busses, bags unloaded and cadets checked in . . . all at a double time. Each cadet checked in with the S-1 and the camp nurse . . . then with the S-4 to draw equipment for the week. Now with unit assignments, each cadet was assigned a room and a bunk and began unpacking and arranging their lockers in accordance with the standards established by the commandant.
Those who got here early enough had the chance to review drill procedures. Now in uniform, every cadet made it to the evening meal at the NCO Academy dining facility, followed by briefings by the Director of Army Instruction, the Camp Commander, the Camp Commandant, the Camp Nurse and the Camp Safety Officer.
Tomorrow will be an early morning for everyone . . . we have to be at the Graf pool by 0700 (Water Safety Training).
