Range 118, Grafenwoehr.
The towers stood alone in the woods of Range 118. We had to march a short distance . . . no civilian vehicles allowed (our busses) . . . this was an active range. Next door Soldiers . . . tankers . . . from the 1st Cav were firing into the impact area. Awesome! Armor rules!
Although the rappelling towers at Range 118 have been there for quite a while, JROTC cadets were the first to use them just a few years ago. JCLCeurope has been using them regularly. Three towers . . . 10, 15 and 20 meters. A climbing wall. A cable bridge. Lots to keep JROTC cadets busy.
Charlie Company and Delta Company hit the rappel towers on Tuesday. Take a look at our pics. It was a cool day, temps in the mid to high 60s Fahrenheit. Sunny day.
"On rappel!"
