On the Ropes Course with Company A
Grafenwöhr Outdoor Recreation has a brand new Ropes Course! It is not officially open . . . due to open in September . . . but ODR allowed us to use it.
Alpha Company was there on Thursday . . . a real scorcher; fortunately the Ropes Course is in the forest so JCLC cadets enjoyed the shade. Still, it was HOT!
Following a warm-up exercise, the ODR cadre outfitted cadets in brand new hi-tech safety equipment. Safety briefing and an exercise on using the equipment and cadets began to climb to the first of two levels. Once they tackled the stations on level one, cadets were allowed to advance to level two.

On the Ropes Course with Company B
This morning was Bravo Company's turn at the Ropes Course. The weather turned much cooler (from 91F to 59F) overnight thanks to a welcomed thunderstorm that included lightning and hail, as well as rain. Unfortunately, along with cooler temps came the bugs.
The ropes course cadre started the training with a warm-up exercise . . . then equiped everyone and conducted training on using the gear.
We were joined this morning by the American and German press: AFN Bavaria followed the progress of a cadet from Patch High School and a reporter from Der Neue Tag (Weiden, Germany) interviewed a cadet from Ansbach High School. We'll put a link to the AFN report here once it is published; we'll publish the article from the German paper here, too. Meanwhile, take a look at these photos:
